Exciting new role within the largest Basketball development program in New South Wales, Hornets Academy. Manage a great team of coaches and help drive the program to become the most successful program in Australia. The Association's strategic plan over the next two years will see Hornets Academy programs double in size. The role of Development Officer will also develop & expand to meet demands.


Role: Permanent Part-time

Location: Hills Basketball Stadium, Castle Hill.

Hours: 22 hours per week. Extra hours available for school visits.

School Term: Tue 1.30-5.30pm, Wed, 1.30-5.30pm, Thur 1.30-5.30pm, Fri 1.30-6.30pm, Sat 7.30am-12.30pm.

Hours vary during school holidays.

Role includes:

  • School "Have a Go" Days rostering
  • Sporting Schools rostering
  • Hornets Academy Skills Sessions rostering and supervision
  • Hornets Academy Holiday Camps rostering and Coach
  • Rostering of HBA individual team coaches
  • Northwest Primary Challenge
  • Community events and Gala Days 
  • Development of Hornets Academy coaches
  • Management of Hornets Academy equipment

Role requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to sell the sport of basketball.
  • Evidence of the ability to work autonomously.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team to deliver outcomes
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Club Coaching accreditation. Working towards Association accreditation.
  • Energetic and outgoing personality that supports your ability to build effective relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Accreditation, preferably in teaching, sports administration, coaching or sports management
  • Knowledge of, and passion for the sport of Basketball
